Restoration Choices
Prior to receiving your dental implants, some decisions must be made.
First, there are several radiographs and exam steps that assist the doctors in determining the room available for dental implants.
Then you need to consider the type of tooth replacement you would like. Removable teeth, cemented teeth that do not come out and how many implants are needed to accomplish your goals.

When no teeth remain, there are a few choices

Sometimes full dentures are a bit too wobbly and insecure fitting.  Dental implants offer options.  Placing a few dental implants with buttons that can attach to the denture securing it(not shown).

After careful planning, multiple dental implants can be placed to hold cemented bridgework.  No denture, no denture adhesive, sounds like a dream, doesn't it.

As seen to the right, multiple dental implants have been placed in the lower jaw providing support for a full lower bridge

The bridge is cemented onto the implants.

When a few teeth are missing leaving an entire area without teeth, a few dental implants can often be placed.  The amount of available bone must be measured and sometimes a bone graft must be planned to increase the available bone

The second diagram to the left shows the dental implants in place.  At this point, the general dentist begins making the bridge to be placed onto the dental implants.

Impressions are taken at the general dentist office and a fixed cemented bridge can be made.

The bridge is cemented into position completing the tooth replacement and providing an improved bite.
