Frenectomy
The Frenum is a small band of tissue that spans from the inner lip to in between the two front teeth. The are also other frenii in our mouths.

Occasionally, the frenum may be prominent and affect the closing of spaces between our teeth. Also, occasionally, the frenum may pull when speaking or moving the lips creating recession.

If the frenum is suspected to be involved, it can be removed. This is accomplished with several procedures including a laser procedure. Local anesthetic is given, an almost bloodless laser procedure can remove the offending frenum. Ibuprofen or tylenol is normally sufficient during the first few days of healing.
